Can't say I'm impressed with that. Shows complete lack of ability to find, or sign, anybody else.

Desperate.

Feels like Christmas.

There’s only one George Boyd, walking in A Boydy Wonderland.

I’m really really excited now

misery guts.
Nothing to do with it.

Did you see Tomlin last season? Truly awful.

Did you see CMS when he came back? Truly awful.

Did you se McClean when he came back? Truly awful.

This is a desperate signing. We can't find anybody to play central midfield so we've gone back for a player who's never played in that position before.

Think outside the box. It's been proven time & time again that going back for an old player just doesn't work.

Depends on his fitness of course, but I don't consider a 33-year old who played in the Championship last season as a desperate appointment.
As Dmac didn't originally intend to re-sign him, I assume he is about the 4th or 5th-choice for midfield.

Keep this squad together minus the transfer listed and we will storm this league.

Comparing Boyd to other former players we have signed is baseless whataboutery.

How a Posh fan can't be excited by this is beyond me so from now on I'll ignore the posters on here who want to diss this signing.

They are not Posh fans.

Don't bite children ffs

If he hadn't been here before it would be a signing that even Gaz would approve of.

I’m hopeful, I loved George, I’d have even had his babies, but as killjoy gaz says McLean CMS Tomlin and add to those Taylor, Williams, Samuelson and probably a few others I can’t remember have not covered themselves in glory, hopefully George will be different.

You approving of something MacAnthony has done? I almost fell off my chair.

I'm guessing the clique on mumsnet are all over each other with this news too?

In 1973 Posh signed a 33 year old called Freddie Hill from Manchester City. He was about as quick as a tortoise, could only use one peg, he used the other to stand on, but he was one of the best, if not the best midfield player ever to play for Posh.

He was instrumental in getting the club promotion in Noel Cantwell’s side and was inducted into the Posh Hall of Fame a few years ago.

No doubt Gaz would have disapproved of his signing.

For heaven’s sake, if Boydie can anchor the midfield and spray a few intelligent passes around, that has to be better than anything we have seen for many years.

We know what he can do and the talent he has. For heaven’s sake, let’s give him as much of a chance as we do to the rest of the team. He could arguably be the best signing we have made.

My immediate reaction was that this is fantastic and I hope he sits in a central midfield role dictating the play. One Miller with a brain :)

Or it is a plan all along that took a while to get over the line, answers why we haven't been seriously pursuing another CM the past week or two.
If he'd signed for Rovrum or suchlike most normal people would have bemoaned the fact they had got an experienced midfielder and we hadn't.

You just choose the negative anyway so that's why people get fed up in the end.

What a load of B*llocks.

What would you have thought if Doncaster had signed Tomlin last March? You'd have been gutted and mumsnet would have gone into hyperbole agreeing with each other.

And if you think we haven't been pursuing a central midfielder since May, then quite frankly you haven't got a clue.

This is a last resort signing. Let's hope it works out.
